30 Years Later And The Story Is The Same.

AUSTIN – Burst water pipes at two coal-fired power plants forced them to shut down, triggering rolling power cuts across the state, the lieutenant governor said Wednesday.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said this is something that “should not happen.” via Broken water pipes at power plants cited in outages | Facebook | Chron.com – Houston Chronicle.

We went through this very same thing back in the 1980’s when the low in Houston hit 14. Now, thirty years later, they still haven’t fixed the design of Texas power generating plants?

The thing I don’t understand is; how is ten minutes on and fifteen minutes off for three or four hours considered a rolling blackout when the rest of town never goes black? Just asking…

What in the world is going to happen tomorrow when the weather is really supposed to be bad? I mean, after the rain yesterday morning it has just been cold. Tomorrow we are supposed to have freezing rain and/or snow… And the temperatures are going to be the same as this morning.

You know, if this wasn’t Texas someone would probably be calling for some infrastructure investment to fix the problem.
