Legend of the Seeker

This is not Sword of Truth

I was wandering around on Netflix the other day and discovered this series. It was available to view online. Since I was a fan of the original Terry Goodkind books it seemed like a good match for a rainy afternoon of grandfather duty…
Boy, did I get hooked…There is something to say for being able to watch an entire series of episodes without the normal week long wait to see what happens next. Needless to say one episode led to the next and the next and so on… It reminded me of the only time I sat down with the first season of 24 and watched it all in a weekend…
I am not sure how I missed this series when it was released last season. I guess the fact that I really don’t pay much attention to broadcast TV must have something to do with it.
I will say this…I am adding this box into my Amazon wish list for the coming Christmas gift suggestions…You kids reading this?

Reviews From Amazon:

If I was to look at this series just as a swords and sorcery science fiction show then I would be amazed. The storyline is rather good, and it works well for its episode by episode basis, with each episode being a story in itself, but belonging to a larger story that run through the entire season. The acting are decent, the special effects are not bad. Some have complained that she show is full of cliché characters and situations, and that is true, but I for one do not think that something being cliché automatically means that it is bad. Yes you have the pretty magic wielding heroine, the pheasant boy who discover a great destiny and a wise elderly wizard fighting a evil overlord with black hair, magic powers and red robes. Yes we have seen all this before, but there is a reason why this is imagery which have become so cliché, it works.

I am a fan of the books. I found the series to be ok, but not the caliber of the books. So much was omitted and rewritten in the story that it is hardly the series i remember. The true evil of the world is glossed over, the books make you understand what it is to fight to be free of opression and tyranny. Yes there is blood and shocking violence, but the books help you understand the real facts involved in taking control of your life and destiny. The series just doesnt do it for me. Watch it on line at hulu for free instead.

I came upon this show in the cable guide. I had never heard of it before but I thought the episode info sounded a little intriguing.
I wasn’t sure about it but thought the storyline sounded kind of cool so I taped it.. I was impressed. There are cheesy parts but you get over them after you get pulled into the story of magick, spells, wizardry, etc. There is action and it does get a little sexy too. Its all very fantastical.
It feeds the imagination…If you watch one episode and you dont like it, watch a couple more, and you just might become hungry for more…

I have not read the books but let me tell you that this is one of the best fantasy shows Ive seen on television period… It has plenty of action, great camera work, and an awesome “intimate” relationship between the 2 main characters. Really keeps you wanting more. I cant wait for the second season…
