Happy Birthday Caitlin McKenzie
Thirty-three years ago today our youngest daughter was born. My hope for her birthday is happiness!
This morning has been cool and blustery with a bit of rain thrown in. The temperature is 63°. As I got out of bed this morning, distant thunder rumbled. But as you can see from the last image above, the sky is opening up to the west as the front moves through.
Here lately I’ve been thinking about how this site has evolved over the almost two decades it’s been up.. when I started this site my routine was to get up and get ready for work before sitting at the kitchen table with my laptop and catching up on the latest news from the internet. Any stories that caught my interest that I thought I had something to say about, I would share. Usually, that would be two maybe three sometimes four stories from the news sites.
A lot of those early stories fell into the political side of life under the category of “blues from a red state”. It was the beginnings of the Tea Party.. it was the end of Bush the junior’s reign of mediocrity. It was pre-Obama. It was a time before alternative facts became a talking point on the news programs.
And you know what? As the years rolled by, I found myself talking less about the political side of life as the political side of life intruded more into my reality. I guess the blues coming from this red state eventually warm me down.
Though I quit “talking” about it I haven’t quit living it.
My wife keeps asking me why we still live in Texas. The only answer I can give her is because that’s where our family came from and still lives. It’s damn sure not because I agree politically with the blanks that are running the state. And yes, I know that puts me at odds with a big portion of that same family… And neighbors… And sadly, there are too many places in America these days where the social and political divide isn’t almost as bad as the South.
Oh well, enough with the reminiscing.. it’s time for me to move on. I’ll catch y’all on the other side.
