Sunday January 15th
I slept in this morning… Later than I have in a long time… The first comment out of the wife’s mouth was ” you must have needed it “. So I guess, I probably did.
It’s a pleasant 61° on the back porch this morning with the sun rapidly warming the space.
The back porch of this house was one of the first areas I became comfortable with as the house was being built. Once the walls were framed and the roof was on I would sit in the open window frames and enjoy the view.
And at the time, the view was a novel thing. It was almost halfway into what had been a field behind our old house. It was out from under the large oaks that surrounded the old house. It was under an open sky. And most of all it was back almost amongst the trees that I had actually, personally planted… each and everyone.
Some of those trees were transplanted from the woods behind the house. Some of the trees were bought in bulk at 12-in to 18 in bare rooted little saplings. Only a couple were acquired in large pots.
Well since I started late, I need to cut this short now… I’ll catch you on the other side…
