Tuesday
Stepping out on the back porch this morning before first light it felt like I thought it should feel on a warm and humid last day of August. The temperature was 79°, cooler than normal was still quite warm. It felt humid, but there was no condensation on the windows… So the humidity wasn’t pushing 100% this morning.
The sky this morning is partly cloudy… Or at least that’s what the prognosticators are calling it. To me it looks like it’s mostly cloudy, almost overcast.
Looking outside the windows into my backyard I see the sun is now above the clouds on the eastern horizon. It’s side lighting the trunks of the trees, defining their roundness with the paintbrush of light. That paintbrush draws great contrast between the brightly lit foreground and the grass and the woods still in shadow at the back of the yard. The alternating layers of light and dark and light and dark and light and dark collapse the distance making it seem closer… But somehow further away.
Well, it’s about that time. Got another bus to meet and then chores to do. So, y’all stay safe, stay healthy, say a prayer for the nation and the world. And say another for all the folks trying to put it back together after mother nature tried to take it all apart… Again.
As I put these words into this form I’m listening to a podcast the world cafe an interview the Jackson Brown. One of his comments really impacted my thoughts… He was commenting about singers, mostly female, what he said was along the lines that… “The sound of the air leaving their bodies, is a sound I just can’t get enough of*. What an interesting way of viewing a singer’s voice…
