It’s a comfortable 69° out this morning as a light rain falls. We are still under a flash flood watch or warning, I can never keep them straight. The Cardinals are singing now out in the rain. But other than that it’s quiet. I can’t even hear the murmur of the roosters around the corner. Just raindrops on leaves, water dropping and dripping down the downspouts. Just a nice quiet Saturday morning.
It’s going to make for interesting times at the supermarket. But then again that’s the spring weather in Texas. My poor family is far to the west of us being rained on in a screen shelter… In this pattern of rain runs right through tomorrow.
A flock of Walmart gulls just flew over. They don’t seem to mind the rain at all.
Off in the distance, I can hear the sounds of steel wheels on steel rails. A train headed for somewhere else. From the sounds of it moving away and the whistle has it passes the crossing, it’s headed south down highway 6. I don’t know if it’s headed for Galveston or if it’s going to hit the westbound line before Santa Fe.
Oh well, I forgot to bring out my coffee so I think I’ll bring this to an end and wandering in and have that first cup.
Don’t stay safe, stay healthy, pray for the nation and the world… From what I see in here, India and Brazil could use the prayers.
Welcome to May.
Because of Wheels and Keels, I had a four day weekend in Kerrville planned — can’t get into Lakewood to work because of the festivities. But… as your family found out, it’s raining in the hill country as much as it is here. If it ever stops (or slows) I might head to Galveston Island to check things out. I figure the rain will keep the crowds down, and the places I visit aren’t crowd pleasers anyway. It’s just the traffic that’s the problem. We’ll see. At least people are getting the rain we’ve needed.
Linda, at least if it has to rain I prefer the slow and steady rains we’ve been getting… Let it soak in and not run off…
