It’s chilly outside… so I’m musing indoors. It’s not the low temperature so much as the blustery north winds. Tomorrow is going to be even colder.
It’s hard getting the grandkids moving after a week out of school. It’ll be even harder after the next break.
For a change the sky is clear… no clouds… but it’s not the same blue as winter. There’s a depth to the blue sky of winter that’s never apparent in any other season… at least along the Texas Gulf Coast.
I’m a little worried that, if the winds keep blowing, there won’t be any leaves left on the oak to reach peak color. It’s already looking a little thin.
Leafless trees are hit or miss around here. Some pecans are completely bare. Others are still almost fully leafed. The mimosa has been empty of leaves for weeks while the mulberries are just showing a few very green leaves yet. And the oaks around my place, while they’ve been dropping leaves for awhile, are still about 60% leafed out. It’ll be January before they are bare… except for the live oaks which never lose all there leaves.
Well, my first cup is empty. School is started for the youngest… time to wake her brother.
Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the world.
