It’s not so cool, and it’s overcast this morning. It’s late, as usual for a Sunday morning. Other than a train moving down the rails blasting at the crossings, it’s even pretty quiet. I can’t see that the clouds are even moving.
Gary Myers had a good post about the early voting crowds. I especially liked this story…
I read of a guy who rolled by one such line of waiting voters in his pickup truck and yelled out his window to another guy standing near the end of the line.
“How long you been waiting?” he asked.
“Four goddamn years!” the fellow in line responded as the other people in line responded with loud applause.

If you don’t read Gary’s blog, you really should. He’s my favorite artist these days. There is something in his painting’s that really speak to me. Here’s an image of his that I really like… just one of so many.
Like many others right now, I am trying to keep my optimism from getting ahead of reality. Four years ago was a lesson I wish I could unlearn, a vision of my fellow Americans I thought to never see… or beleive. And in the three plus years that have followed, I cannot wrap my head around the fact that a large number of my fellow citizens feel that the leadership shown by this President is anything but subpar.
But with just a bit over a week to go until election day, my optimism is leaking out just a bit. I’m keeping it under tight rein, because I just don’t trust Republican’s not to cheat, or try to… Their voter suppression tactics have always been blatant, barely hidden behind a ton of lawyers. Their grasp for power beginning to show signs of weakness as the demographics in the country move from old white men to a multi-colored smorgasbord of ages, sexs, and cultural differences. May the new age be long…
