It’s warmish this morning, but the humidity doesn’t feel so high. The one good thing about being on the dry side of a tropical cyclone. We, as in those of us in the Houston and Galveston area, are extremely lucky this morning. Though our fellow citizens to the east in Texas and Louisiana won’t know how bad it is for awhile yet… it’s still storming just a ways to the east.
This is one of those times when it’s driven home how without the modern advances in life you could almost be nailed by a natural disaster and never even know it. All we had to show here from one of the strongest storms to hit the Gulf Coast was some slightly stronger than the usual summer breezes. Our prayers are with those who have lost so much already, and those still in the path of mother nature’s meanest offspring.
I spent another night with the Republicans until my wife requested I turn to something with more relevance to our world… So we turned to real reality entertainment and watch Joe mow the fields in Minnesota at Northern Seclusion. So much more truth in broadcasting in watching Joe mow.
One of the folks I follow, a news photographer in the Virginia Blue Ridge, had a post this morning titled “Three types of lies… Lies, Damn Lies, and the Republican Convention.” It seems to me that for most of my life, that’s been a true statement.
Sitting here, watching butterflies fluttering from bloom to bloom as they fight it out with the hummingbirds for a bit of nectar is so well appreciated after two days of worrying about the weather.
Well, I guess I should really get back inside and see what the news is saying about the world.
Y’all stay safe, stay healthy, and Pray for our Nation and the World. Say a special prayer for all those under threat of Hurricane Laura.
