It’s sunny once more, the crickets are louder than the cicadas, and the forecast is for more rain… summer morning coffee muses.
Today’s rains should be more scattered thunderstorms than yesterday’s area wide rain. Yesterday’s rains were strange, we had lite to moderate rains for most of the day so I was surprised to see a Facebook post about flooded roads. I turned on the TV and what did I find… all three networks were in full weather disaster mode. One crazy 4th.
Today, the thunderclouds are building way up… then dissipating in the winds to build up once more.
The Mississippi Kite is on it’s perch today.
This back porch has the lingering smell of burgers hanging on the Weber. With leftover patties and fixings in the icebox, breakfast will be another burger. Mid-morning snack will be watermelon. Lunch could well be a smoked brisket sandwich. I pulled out a chunk of the Memorial Day brisket from the freezer for Tuesday night’s supper. It was really good.
I kept seeing reports from the right wing fringe that Democrats were going to start a civil war on the 4th. Judging by the sounds after dark a war was being waged all around us. Booms went on well into the night. And at no time were fireworks seen in the air. I have a feeling that no matter what Mr Jones may think, the only war being waged was with folks wallet at the fireworks stands. A whole lot of money went up in loud ways last night.
Another eye opening post on Facebook was a picture of George Washington with the words “TREASON… THE REASON FOR THE SEASON… HAPPY JULY 4TH”. I don’t think they were referencing Don’s actions though. Those are still coming after him… and his kids.
Coffee’s gone, battery is at 23%, I had better move on. I’ll leave you with this…
Just say Know… to history, to science, to law and order. If you know what’s right, if you know what’s true… we will come out the other side stronger. If we hide from the truth… we may not survive Trump’s time in office as a country.
As I hit publish and glanced up I saw the Mississippi Kite land on the top of the cypress tree right above my head. That is the closest I’ve been to these guys since they arrived in the neighborhood… Beautiful birds.
