Thursday morning coffee…Another warm start to the day. At least we can see great big white fluffy clouds floating in from the Gulf. Yesterday afternoon we had pocket showers moving inland… nice circles of rain about a mile in diameter falling from high clouds so you could actually see the columns of rain falling as they moved past. By the looks, and earliness, of these cloud formations, I anticipate seeing more showers floating by…

The birds have been quiet in the early hours these last few mornings… not really starting to vocalize until I am ready to start my second cup of coffee. Since I am well into that second cup already, they are really starting to serenade me. I also have dueling cicadas working in opposing trees. And after a very quiet morning on the building site across the line… they are now starting to run their saws, cutting… from the sounds of it, metal.

On another note, we have never seen so many monarchs as we have this year. They are fluttering everywhere around the yard. In an effort to bring them into the yard, we planted butterfly weed… milkweed, just the wrong kind, I now find out. The stuff you buy at all of the nursery centers is tropical milkweed… tropical milkweed bad… native milkweed good. The trouble is, the tropical stuff has been spreading now for three years. I need to get some native milkweed and start replacing the tropical… yea.

The clouds in the photo have now moved far enough north to cover the sun. They are dropping some light rain as they go… not on me, though. There is another line moving past to the west… blue sky overhead. Summer green and sky blue, two wonderful colors in combination…

The coffee pot is calling my name…
