Home again, home again, jiggety-jog…

Pushed through to home last night and arrived about 10pm…I see why I have a love/hate relationship with the American Interstate Road system. While they let you cover immense distances in a single day they are essentially…boring. Long corridors through the countryside, shut off from the real world by a screen of trees, short unconnected glimpses of America through the breaks. But, they let you get from here to there in the time allotted.

After the disaster of a day we had on Wednesday with the storms from one end of Tennessee to the other, Thursday dawned windy and clear. It stayed that way all day long. We rolled out of Jackson, Tennessee headed for Memphis on I-40. Left in Memphis onto I-55, with a stop for breakfast, next stop Jackson again…Only this time it’s Jackson, Mississippi.

It was along about here where the autumn colors petered out and we moved back into the predominate colors of the South, green and brown…Right turn on I-20 and a pass through Shreveport, Louisiana before finally after ten hours on the road reaching Texas (yes I know this convoluted path cost me some time…I just hate to travel the same roads I have already been down. That is except for the Blue Ridge Parkway.) Left turn onto US 59 and a straight run to Houston…And Home.

8:30am to 10:00pm…One long day.

  2. Thanks Cynthia, I was mainly trying to keep the flow going. I know how easy it is to quit posting…This was my way of not stopping.

Glad you enjoyed the trip. We sure did. And meeting Fred and Ann was the best afternoon of the two weeks…
