This mornings Washington Post has some interesting reading. Even David Broder is on Chaney’s case this morning. If you haven’t checked out the Post’s series on the essential Dick Chaney you really should…Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency. But then we get to George Will. I am beginning to think the problem I have with George Will is he never gets down from the pulpit. And I don’t follow the theology he is preaching. Sorry.

I can’t wait…Free Market Politics. Let’s hope they work better un-regulated than the un-regulated marketplace has. The problem, as I see it, with political speech is the ability of the dishonest to scam the system…Regularly. Ever since the “MSM” has given up it’s oversight role by not keeping the system honest, we see adds of questionable veracity showing up with great regularity. They have very small initial runs because the controversial nature of the statements made will be picked up and run on the “MSM” for free.

I guess in a Free Market Political system it will be even more of the “buyer be ware” market. Who will check the veracity, oh hell be honest…the truth of this great deregulated political speech. All you have to do inside the window is throw out the rumor today and the chattering class repeats it repeatedly until it becomes conventional wisdom without ever having been vetted. By the time we learn the facts the election is over and the wrong person is in office. The only thing free about this is the way we are giving away the American Government…
