A warm, slightly breezy, start of the week Morning Coffee Muses.

There’s not a shred of blue in the sky this morning. It just a washed out overall gray color. A very high overcast, no individual clouds visible. The world around me is still the color of early summer. Dark green everywhere. So green it feels abnormal. By this late in July I would expect to be seeing more browns.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. I like green. Much more so than a dried out brown. I just find it unusual.

As far as color goes this is what greeted me when I came out…

Another fresh monarch. This make the third or the fourth so far this time. And there are still green jewels hanging about.

Somewhere to the south, not too far away, a crop duster is working. That’s the soundtrack of this morning. Just on the edge of audible, almost a feeling more than a sound. But the rhythm, the cadence, the rise and fall of the pitch… I can see the plane crossing the field at tree level only to climb and turn when it reaches the end of the row. The sound, not quite sound building the image in my mind.

Since I put off my Deere meditations on Friday, I must complete them today. Heat or no heat (like that’s gonna happen, no heat that is).

The monarch just made it’s maiden flight towards the woods. The first of many long miles it will travel till it’s wings are worn and tattered.
