Working Out The Kinks In WordPress 2.9

After staying up late watching “Australia” last night, I woke up early thanks to an alarm clock reset to wake my wife on Saturday that I forgot to set back to a normal wakeup call. I started reactivating plugins this morning until the “white screen of death” as Cali called it returned. It returned right after I activated “Broken Link Checker”. It’s funny in a way…That plugin is on every blog I am running and it only “killed” this one. So my morning was spent going through all of my setups and running the automatic updates on the plugins that have shown up since yesterday and removing BLC from all of my blogs.

I had the same problem a few years ago with a plugin that displayed a calendar of events with each event having it’s own page with a Google Map graphic. I loved the plugin. I had it installed on multiple sites. Then bam…It broke one of my sites and took a lot of effort to track down the problem. Once I figured out what had happened I ended up removing it from all of the sites…I hated to see it go.

It still has me bumfuzzled how a plugin can break on one site and not on another with the same setup…It’s more than my middle-aged brain can wrap itself around. But it sure is nice to have all of my sites cooperating again…At least for today.

It looks as though I am payed up through June on my hosting at GoDaddy…I’ll be investigating a new home in the coming months for these pages. I am not happy with the speed coming off of GoDaddy’s servers…
