You may not need your sweaters, but mild fall temperatures are forecast to be nearly 10 degrees below normal today in the Houston area as light rain and clouds from a weak cool front help to keep mercury readings down.
Temperatures should climb as the area dries out under sunny skies this weekend, but another weak cold front is expected early next week, bringing more rain and slightly cooler-than-normal air, according to the National Weather Service.
Before all of you folks in more moderate climates think this means it’s really cool down here on the Gulf Coast of Texas I should say that at 1pm it’s 74 degrees outside my house. To give you some idea of what we go through as the rest of the country talks about fall weather and color there is this quote in the paper….
Today the high temperature will be about 79 degrees, which is a single degree above the area’s record minimum high on this date. It’s nine degrees below normal.
Can you imagine? Late September and the record low high temperature is 78…That’s the record.
Here’s wishing for a few more records to come our way…I can use the respite from the heat we’ve been living with this summer…
