Wednesday, January Second

Rain and temperatures falling on this second day of the new year for my morning coffee muses.

The new year arrived with warmish temperatures. By the end of the day, it was even raising the house’s inside temps. This morning it’s heading back down for a couple of days before rising again to start next week.

Yesterday morning I was reading email and had one from Audubon. The headline was what was the first bird you saw in the new year… at that point, I hadn’t seen a single one. A bit later, a chipping sparrow arrived on the feeder. Just minutes later an eastern phoebe was out at the cedar tree.

The wisteria is finally losing Its leaves. Leaves on the oaks out front are falling daily. The views from the windows appear to look out on winter more and more.

And, the butterfly weed is leafing out once more after the monarchs stripped them on their way south.

Time to move on… Happy New Year.
