July Eighteenth, Wednesday

It’s warm out, but not as warm as inside this day… The I think I need a few more box fans morning coffee muses.

Yesterday, about noon, our AC decided to shut down. I couldn’t schedule a service call till this morning. The insulation in the house managed to keep the temperature in the seventies until evening. But, even with a few open windows the temperature is hovering over eighty this morning. I pulled the box fan out of the kids room and stuck it in a window to pull in some of the cooler morning air for a bit.

The none nice thing about all of this… my glasses didn’t fog up when I walked out…

The first bird on the feeder today was a cardinal… but when he saw me he didn’t stay.

There’s enough breeze to spin the pinwheels this morning. It comes and it goes.

Out here on the porch yesterday I was hearing the pileated woodpecker I’ve been catching glimpses of. The call of the pileated woodpecker always makes me smile. It’s such a primeval sound to hear in the modern world. It gives you hope that maybe… just maybe, there’s still an ivory bill hanging on out there.

Once again the cardinal came to the feeder only to see me and fly away.

Coffee’s gone, email time…
